The family mediation service within FRMP provides direct service as well as secondary consultation as part of the FRMP team. The mediator will provide a mediation service for young people (15-25) experiencing homelessness or those that are newly homeless who have identified they would like to reconcile with their family / significant others.
The direct service response will:
- Provide a statewide common assessment tool to identify the need for family mediation/reconciliation services.
- Provide an immediate assessment service for all family mediation enquiries for the target group.
- Provide family mediation services in designated areas, these are within the inner metropolitan of Melbourne
- Broker in family mediation service providers where appropriate or work with existing service providers in designated geographic areas to deliver this service.
In addition the community building activities will:
- Provide opportunities for professional development and training in family focussed interventions for the HSS.
- Administer the brokerage funds.
